What is MPEG and MPG
MPEG (pronounced M-peg), Moving Picture Experts Group, specializes in setting standards for audio and video compression and transmission. MPEG has many kinds of compression formats. The major advantage of MPEG compared to other video and audio coding formats is that MPEG files are much smaller for the same quality. TCurrent standards that exist include, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-3, and MPEG4. MPEG-1 is a standard for CD-ROM video and audio.MPEG-2 is a standard for full-screen, broadcast quality video.MPEG-4 is a standard for video telephony. MPEG-1 video clip is used on VCD(VideoCD discs) and MPEG-2 used on Super VideoCD(SVCD), DVD Video and Blu-ray.
