F4V vs FLV and convert F4V to flash SWF for mac

After doing a little research online and testing at the office, I'm having difficulty understanding the differences between the standard file type FLV and the F4V file type created during recordings. When choosing FLV for recordings I get a recording in the F4V file type, but I'm running into various compatibility issues with the F4V. When we go to convert the .f4v files to another format, many of the conversion programs we test do not accept the file or if they do, error while converting. My question is: What's the difference between FLV and F4V? Is there a application to convert F4Vfile?here is the reference between FLV and F4V.
