I am currently using a Canon HV20 and love it, it is tape based but I am looking into the new F100. It works perfectly with my Intel Mac. Great quality video (even low light), great 7.6mp widescreen or 10mp stills. I appreciate its AVCHD record file much but when refer to how to use it on Mac, I found myself have no idea with it.
As we all know, a plenty of HD camcorder models have been on the market like Canon Vixia HF S21, HF S20, HF S200, HF M300, Panasonic HDC-TM700, Sony Handycam HDR-CX550V. Most of them utilize MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 codec for recording videos with the file extension as .mts. But Mac QuickTime, iMovie, Final Cut Pro friendly formats MP4 (MPEG-4), M4V, MPEG are different from the .mts. Take Mac MP4 as example, Mac MP4 comes MPEG-4 AAC/H.264 while HF camcorder uses MPEG-4 AVC/H.264, so leads to the HD codec incompatible with Mac.
